In Year 2, we were inspired by the island of Japan. We learnt about pagodas (three tiered towers with many eaves), and sketched our own designs. We used watercolours to paint landscape pictures of Mount Fuji in the style of Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. In spring time, Japanese cherry blossom trees bloom and the Obon Festival (feast of the lanterns) is celebrated. We created cherry blossom windsocks and designed our own Japanese lanterns.
