During the Autumn term, the children are learning about how we grow and stay healthy in Science. For the first 2 weeks, we looked after chick eggs, watching them hatch and the chicks grow. They were then taken back to Bowland Farm. This gave the children the opportunity to predict what is in an egg at various stages of incubation, research the development of a chick and understand that it is a baby chicken. They also discuss and researched what the chicks will need to grow into healthy adults.
Year 2 have been learning how to write instructions for playground games. The children enjoyed learning how to play hopscotch and statue tag by following the instructions they were given. They were given the opportunity to read and follow instructions, place them in the correct order and the importance of using imperative (bossy) verbs.
