Our Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

As a school, we base our learning on a broad and balanced curriculum and strive to deliver a wide and varied learning experience. We are committed to developing each child’s unique potential within a happy, caring and loving environment where Christ is at the centre of what we do and who we are. Our curriculum is enriched by experiences and resources to ensure that we provide an exciting, enquiry based learning experience for our children, maximising opportunities in our local area and beyond, through purposeful visits and enrichment opportunities.

We believe that our children should not only reach their best academically, but also develop a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. We want our pupils to be active learners, questioning, investigating and challenging themselves and sharing responsibility for driving their own learning.  Our intention is that the pupils at Our Lady and St Edward’s are happy, confident, articulate and resilient learners. Through enthusiastic and passionate teaching, we aim to provide learning opportunities that help our children to be successful in a creative, safe and calm environment where classrooms and other learning spaces promote creativity and high aspiration.

We pride ourselves on providing a highly inclusive environment, where learners enjoy their education and pupils at all levels are helped to achieve their potential. Pupils who are most able are challenged and encouraged to expand their skills and knowledge through varied curriculum opportunities. Pupils who find learning more difficult are given targeted support to embed skills, to develop at their own pace and learn in a style that best suits their individual needs. Above all, we want our children to give their very best and to be proud of their achievements.

Our intention is that our pupils leave school with a bank of skills and knowledge which enables them to be responsible citizens who care about themselves, their community and the world around them.
